A Letter from Our Founder
In early 2020, I found myself in Albania, a country I knew very little about but immediately realized had a very tragic stray animal crisis.

I felt hopeless most days in Albania. I didn't know how to help or where to start. Feeling hopeless was more difficult than feeling sad or angry, and I knew the only way forward was to try.

I could do more. I reached out to JETA: Tier und Mensch, an animal welfare organization working in Albania to see what we could do TOGETHER. Our partnership saved a stray named Lady. I volunteered at their shelter and felt more purposeful. Then, I made the biggest and best choice ever: I adopted Honey.

I never intended to stay in Albania for long. When I left, I continued to do what I could from afar to help. But because I believe we can all do just a little bit more, I decided it was time to start a 501c3 that could really make an impact.

Honey's Pack of Hope exists to bring hope and support to animal rescue organizations in the neediest places around the world. All too often in places like Albania, organizations deal with daily emergencies and lack the resources and time to focus on the underlying problems that cause the crisis in the first place. Honey's Pack of Hope exists to support these organizations solve the stray animal crisis that brings suffering to countless animals (and humans) every day, month, and year.

Honey's Pack of Hope also believes in the healing power of the animal-human bond. By saving animals, we are saved in return. Honey's Pack aims to create new projects that help both animals and humans. All too often we 'silo' causes. Animal rights in one category; climate change in another; women's rights in yet another; etc. Thanks to intersectionality conversations, we're learning silo-ing doesn't get us very far. I think we can start to bring that same ideology to the animal rights world. What if we could find a way to improve the lives of women and other marginalized human groups while also saving animals? What if we started to teach that there are no hierarchies; we are not "above" animals? What would it look like if environmental activists and animal activists collaborated more? The possibilities are endless if we just start the conversations.

We are so excited to start this journey in 2023 and appreciate your support of the pack. Please check back regularly and sign up for our email list!

With hope,
Laura
