Our Board

Laura Fischer

Founder & President

Laura’s passion has always been animals. Whether raising funds for the local shelter with an epic lemonade stand when she was nine; fostering cats post-college; or adopting her beloved Honey from Albania in 2020, she believes every little thing we do matters and that we can all do a little bit more.

Laura has worked for over ten years with Gloria Steinem, and thanks to Gloria + team, learned so much about effective organizing and the importance of connecting 'causes' and viewing things with a wider lens.

Laura currently works at Gloria’s Foundation and lives in Sardinia with her perfect boys, Bernardo and Honey.

Amanda McCall

Board Member, Secretary

Amanda McCall is a native New Yorker and lifelong pigeon lover. For over a decade, she has worked as a volunteer and fundraiser for The Wild Bird Fund, NYC’s only wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organization, and has also volunteered with several animal rescue organizations abroad. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her two rescue cats.

Andrew Fischer

Board Member, Treasurer

Andrew Fischer is a life-long animal lover and advocate, forever educator, and proud dog dad. After attending the University of Virginia, he taught special education for several years before training teachers and managing teams across Teach For America. In 2019, he moved to Medellin, Colombia to be with his husband, Cesar, and became a yoga and meditation teacher all before the two found the creature that would change their lives, Azul. Andrew is excited to share his passion for animals, education, and learning with the incredible team at Honey's Pack of Hope.

Vivian Sandler

Board Member

Vivian's passion for animal welfare started at a young age, when she stopped eating M&M's after finding out they were tested on animals (she would convince her whole 3rd grade class to do the same!). Since then, she became determined to make a difference for animals in her life. She would go on to write her master’s thesis on the plight of non-human animals and volunteer and work for animal welfare organizations, including Asia for Animals and SOS Animal - Portugal, respectively. Vivian currently works as a Partnerships Coordinator at International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA). She has three fur-brothers—Jimi, Dylan, and Joplin—along with two others who have since passed—Hendrix and Toby—who continue to motivate her to stand up for animals.

Yael Fern

Board Member

Yael Fern was born in Tel Aviv and raised in New York City. She has always preferred the company of animals to people, especially as a child. Though she grew up a strong animal lover, she never realized that her destiny was to be a dog mom until she met her beloved German shepherd Ash, aka Sir Ashie, aka Buzz Buzz, aka Good Boy, aka Don’t Put That in Your Mouth.

Honey

Pack Leader & Daily Inspo

Honey was born on the streets of Albania. Through a series of incredible events, he now lives in Sardinia with his mom and dad. Currently, he enjoys playing with any animal who will agree to it, long walks in the woods, taking up the entire couch, stealing socks, and working on his dramatic expressions.

Honey constantly reminds the pack of how a little hope and a few good people can change a life. He gives special thanks to JETA: Tier und Mensch.
